How to Apply & Enroll

• Child’s Proof of Age

  To verify your child’s identity, you’ll be asked to provide a copy of your student’s birth certificate during the application process.

• Parent Identification

  To verify your identity, you’ll be asked to provide a copy of one of the following forms of identification during the application process:

  • Driver’s license
  • Passport

• Proof of Current Residence

  To verify your Colorado residency*, you’ll be asked to provide a copy of one of the following documents during the application process:

  • A residential utility bill from the past 60 days
  • A mortgage statement from the past 60 days
  • A lease agreement for your current residence from within the past year
  • A rent receipt for your current residence from the past 60 days
  • A property tax statement
  • Your current voter registration card
  • A letter from a government agency from the past 60 days

  *Colorado residency is required except for students of military families who maintain Colorado as their state of legal residence for tax and voter registration purposes.

• Child’s Proof of Immunization

  To verify your child’s immunizations, you’ll be asked to provide a copy of one of the following documents during the application process (all must be signed or stamped by a health care provider):

  • An official state of Colorado immunization form
  • An immunization booklet with each dose signed or stamped
  • An official school record from your child’s previous school
  • A printout from your health provider or health department

  Note: To request an exemption for medical, personal, or religious reasons, please complete this form for medical exemptions and this form for non-medical exemptions.

  If you need help paying for immunizations, you may be able to access free or reduced-cost options through Vaccines for Children or The Colorado Immunization Program (CIP).

• Prior Academic Records

  To verify your child’s school history, you’ll be asked to provide an unofficial transcript during the application process as described below:

  • For students applying for grades 9-12: Please submit an unofficial transcript that includes the complete end-of-year grades from the prior school year(s).
  • For students applying for grades 6-8: Please submit an unofficial transcript only if they earned high school credit for math while in middle school.

  If your student is switching to Williamsburg from homeschool, please contact an academic counselor to discuss how their homeschool path will prepare them our program.

• Custody Order (if applicable)

  If your legal guardianship of your student is determined by a court order, please submit a copy of the order.

• IEP/504 Documents (optional)

  If applicable to your student, you can also provide the following documentation after their application has been approved:

  • Individualized Education Program (IEP): If your student has had an IEP in the past three years and you'd like us to know about it, you may submit a copy of their most recent IEP along with any supporting evaluation documentation. Please also include your child’s most recent Determination of Eligibility.
    
  • IEP Exit Documentation: If your student has formally exited from special education services, you may submit a copy of their exit documentation.
  • Section 504 Plan: If your student has had a 504 plan within the past three years and you'd like us to know about it, you may submit a copy of their most recent 504 plan.

ABOUT OUR Full-Time PROGRAM

• What are the program benefits of enrolling my child full-time?

  Students in this program: 

  • Take on average 6 or more classes for high school and 5 or more classes for middle school each semester to meet minimum full-time hour requirements as outlined by the CDE (Note: High school students must be on a path to graduation. The number of courses required each semester may vary depending on the type of courses taken and past credits awarded.)
  • Are eligible for SpEd/Special Program services
  • May receive a school laptop for use during their tenure at Williamsburg Academy of Colorado
  • Are required to participate in state assessments
  • Will be on a path to graduation and receive a high school diploma if graduation requirements are met (high school only)
  • Are eligible for Concurrent Enrollment upon approval from our academic counselor (high school only)
  • May join in-person events and activities
  • Are required to log in 4 days per week to meet attendance and participation requirements
  • Receive books and supplies, including a loaned computer if needed

• What are the academic benefits of enrolling my child full-time?

  Results show that full-time students who enroll in the Williamsburg program achieve higher grades, develop vital time management skills, and make deeper social connections with their peers and mentors. They also outperform their peers on ACT/SAT exams and are better equipped for life as adults after graduation.
  
  In addition, all full-time students at Williamsburg Academy of Colorado can receive a diploma, get free books and materials, and receive our premiere technology package complete with a student laptop and internet filtering at no charge.

• What if I don't want to enroll my child full-time?

  Take 2 or 3 Courses

  Suppose full-time enrollment at Williamsburg does not meet your student’s needs, and they do not intend to graduate from Williamsburg. In that case, they can enroll in our Homeschool Enrichment (HSE) program through Colorado Education Reinvisioned BOCES.

  Through the HSE program, BOCES will still cover the cost of books and supplies for your child’s Williamsburg courses (excluding a laptop and internet filtering). To be eligible for the HSE, students must enroll in 2-3 courses, one of which must be a core course. An application is required for full-time or HSE students.
  

  Take 1 Course

  Students who take one course are not eligible to enroll at Williamsburg Academy of Colorado or in our HSE program. However, you may register and pay privately through Williamsburg Academy Private School.

• Can my student transfer credit to Williamsburg?

  Students may transfer credit that can count towards their graduation from Williamsburg. We evaluate credit transferred in from other schools according to the following guidelines:

  • The credit must be earned in a regionally accredited school for grades 9-12.
  • The transfer credit must meet Williamsburg’s academic standards.
  • The transfer credit will be evaluated as to whether or not it satisfies one of Williamsburg Academy of Colorado's graduation requirements. If not, it will be listed as an elective credit.

  Transcripts from other schools should be emailed to the Registrar to be considered for credit transfer.

• Can my child switch from full-time enrollment to HSE during the school year?

  No, students cannot switch between full-time and Homeschool Enrichment (HSE) during the school year.

ABOUT OUR HSE PROGRAM

• What can I expect from enrolling in the Homeschool Enrichment (HSE) program?

  Students in the HSE program: 

  • Must take 2-3 courses, with one of them being core
  • Will not receive SpEd/Special Program services
  • Are not required to take in-person state assessments in the spring
  • Are required to participate in NWEA MAPS testing
  • Are not eligible for a school laptop or internet filtering
  • May not switch between full-time and HSE during the school year
  • Are not on a path to graduation and will not receive a diploma
  • May attend in-person events and activities provided immunizations are up-to-date
  • Are not eligible to participate in Concurrent Enrollment
  • Are required to attend and participate in their courses (students must log in at least 2 times per week)
  • Will receive free books and materials required to complete their courses

  Parents of students in the HSE program:

  1. Must complete an enrollment application each year
  2. Must provide proof of Colorado residency during the application process 
  3. Must provide immunization records during the application process if their student plans to attend in-person events

• Can I enroll my child in one class at Williamsburg Academy of Colorado?

  Students who take one course are not eligible to enroll at Williamsburg Academy of Colorado or through the HSE program. However, you may register and pay privately through Williamsburg Academy Private School.

• What if I want my child to switch from HSE to full-time?

  Students may not move from HSE to full-time during the school year. 

  HSE students must meet with our Academic Counselor prior to switching to full-time enrollment:

  • The Academic Counselor will determine if your student has the ability to meet graduation requirements
  • The Academic Counselor will determine if the credits for homeschool courses will be accepted as part of the graduation plan. The student must demonstrate competency in math and language arts using the NWEA MAP assessment for courses not taken in an accredited school.

• What if I want my child to switch from full-time to HSE?

  Students may not move from full-time to HSE during the school year.

  When a student moves from full-time to HSE status (2-3 classes), the parent becomes responsible for homeschooling or monitoring academic progress.

  Williamsburg Learning becomes the curriculum provider for the student.
