All of our online academics happen Mon-Thurs. Then on Fridays, we get out and have fun through Outdoor Adventures (Fall) and Leadership Adventures (Winter)!

Four Locations:

North Denver

South Denver

Durango

Colorado Springs

We’re interested in adding even more locations anywhere we can get roughly 15-20 students together. If you are not in one of the above areas, help us recruit students in your neck of the woods to get an adventure location started where you live.

Yellow Star Outdoor Adventures (Fall Semester)

Getting outdoors is fun, healthy, and a bonding experience for students. Our Outdoor Adventures (OA) program helps students appreciate and learn about nature and get active. Students registered in this course can earn .5 PE credits. 

How the Course Works

On 10 Fridays during the fall semester, students come together in the above regions and do activities like these: 

  • Hiking 
  • Climbing & rappelling at a rock climbing gym
  • Outdoor games
  • First aid training
  • Ice skating

Yellow Star Leadership Adventures (Winter Semester)

Learning to be a leader through social and active adventures helps students connect with their peers and gain exposure to a variety of opportunities. Students in Leadership Adventures (LA) can earn .5 Elective credits toward graduation while engaging with their peers and community in the real world.  

How the Course Works

On 10 Fridays during the winter semester, students come together in the above regions and do activities like these:  

  • Museums
  • Simulations
  • College campus field trip
  • Service projects
  • Visits to local government
  • Hands-on activities with businesses and entrepreneurs
  • Physical activities that explore leadership skills

Each adventure is roughly 2-5 hours. Parents are responsible for getting students to and from the events. Parents can enroll students in OA and LA courses from SIS. Once signed into SIS, simply choose the section for your closest region from the list of available OA and LA options.
