High School Registration

Yes, registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. We have a limited number of seats in all courses, and we do not reserve seats for returning students. However, we always notify current families when registration opens for a new semester.

We encourage you to work with your student's school of record to select courses when registration opens each year.

Results show that full-time students who enroll in the Williamsburg program (taking four or more courses) achieve higher grades, develop vital time management skills, and make deeper social connections with their peers and mentors. They also outperform their peers on ACT/SAT exams and are better equipped for life as adults after graduation.

Students who enroll through a public education partner and fulfill Williamsburg's graduation requirements can receive an accredited Certificate of Merit from Williamsburg.

No, students can’t register for themselves in SIS. Only parents have access to the Registration tab from their SIS parent account.

To have your student's tuition covered by a partner organization, they must take courses that are approved by that organization (also known as your student's "school of record").

If your preferred partner organization does not cover the cost of a course your child is interested in taking, you may register and pay for courses on your own through Williamsburg Academy Private School.

Yes. If needed, you can add, swap, or remove courses from your child’s schedule up to 14 days after the start of each semester (with approval from your student's school of record).

In this case, you may enroll your student in a more advanced math or writing course (with approval from your student's school of record).

Because your child is officially a student at your chosen partner organization (also known as your child’s "school of record”), they are subject to the graduation requirements of that school. You can check with your partner organization's academic counselor to review their graduation requirements and make sure your student is on track to graduate.

If your student meets the graduation requirements for both their school of record and Williamsburg, in addition to the diploma they will receive from their school of record, they will also receive a Certificate of Merit from Williamsburg and can fully participate in our online graduation ceremony with their peers from other Williamsburg schools.

Honors Classes: Yes, our live-online Social Studies, Writing & Rhetoric, Literature, High School Math, and Pre-Calculus courses are offered in both Honors and Classic versions. (Self-paced courses are only available in the Classic format.)

Students in Classic and Honors courses meet in the same live class sessions, but Honors students complete roughly 30% more work. You can select either the Classic or Honors version when you enroll in SIS. Students have 28 days from the first day of the semester to move from one version to another with approval from their school of record.

AP Classes: We do not offer AP classes. However, Williamsburg students who study for and take AP exams often perform well.

Many of our online high school core courses are offered in both “live” and “self-paced” formats. Most Fine Arts, PE, and Electives are offered exclusively in the self-paced format. The following courses are available in the self-paced format:

• All Leadership courses (except Student Body Leadership)
• All Language Arts courses
• All Social Studies courses
• Fitness for Life
• Mind & Body Stewardship
• Second Language
• Electives

Whenever possible, we recommend taking live-online courses over self-paced courses for the best academic experience and results. Self-paced courses should be selected only if necessary.

We offer high school Independent Studies courses in PE, Fine Arts, and Electives. Not all public education partners approve funding for these courses. Please check with your student's school of record prior to registering.

We’ll also email you and your student with information about student orientation assignments they will need to complete in Canvas (our online learning management system).
