Weekly Parent Email – October 7, 2022

October 7, 2022

I’ve enjoyed visiting with many of you these past few weeks. The persistent theme echoed by most of our parents is the value they place on helping students learn to think for themselves. Our parents are strongly committed to an education that isn’t simply measured by a series of test scores, but rather by the ability of their children to engage in meaningful conversation, to lead themselves and others, and to think on their own. Our parents are actively involved in this educational process and have chosen Williamsburg Academy (WA) to support this endeavor.

We want to support you in this effort! A resource you may find helpful is the WA Parent-Student Handbook (pg 38-50). This resource provides information to help you support your students in developing the needed skills to succeed in their WA studies. The ideas and information in this handbook are customized to our program, and based on advice from many successful mentors and staff.

If you have not yet had the opportunity to read this important section in the handbook, I would like to invite you to read and discuss with your student the various suggestions we have provided and how they could be helpful to their success.

We value our families and realize the unique trust you place in our mentors, staff, and school. I appreciate your continued ideas on how we can become even better as we work together!

Warmly,

Ross Gilbert

Headmaster, Williamsburg Academy
