Math Program
Many students struggle to feel confident with math, and our Math Program supports them in recognizing patterns, making sense of numbers in everyday life, and developing the mindset needed to approach new challenges with ease.
New for 2025-26, we’re transforming the way students learn math with Derivita, an interactive platform that provides instant, step-by-step feedback. Derivita gives students smarter practice and helps mentors identify strengths, struggles, and skill gaps in real time—so every student can get the support they need to grow.
In live math courses, students meet four times per week with a certified teacher—what we call a mentor—who leads them through simulations and modeling workshops that reveal the meaning and beauty behind the math. Mentors also guide hands-on problem-solving sessions that help students build fluency and confidence using Derivita. For students in 8th grade (Intro to HS Math), we also offer a self-paced option supported by mentor office hours.

World Language (through our high school program)
(Under Electives in SIS; students choose one language from a list of options)
As a parent, you want to help your student develop the skills to unlock the opportunities they desire. Whether they wish to spend time in a foreign country or apply to a competitive university, learning a new language in high school can help (it also improves memory and increases attention span). At Williamsburg, we partner with Rosetta Stone to offer your student a cutting-edge language learning experience.
Through Rosetta Stone, students expand their vocabulary with words describing daily tasks, cultural experiences, schoolwork, family, and travel. Each Rosetta Stone course has 3 or 5 levels of study available in each language (as shown below). Each level is worth 0.5 credits and takes 20-70 hours to complete (depending on a student’s aptitude for languages and the difficulty of the language selected).
(Check this table to see how Rosetta Stone levels translate to Williamsburg courses.)
By pursuing mastery of a world language, students broaden their perspective on the world, gain confidence in their communication skills, and lay the groundwork to succeed in future studies or travel to another country. Who knows what doors will open when your student learns a new language?
We offer the following World Language courses in the Self-Paced format:
- French 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, and 3A
- German 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, and 3A
- Japanese 1A, 1B, and 2A
- Spanish (Latin America) 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, and 3A
- Spanish (Spain) 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, and 3A
- Russian 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, and 3A
We’re making room for more Live world language courses by retiring some of our previously offered Self-Paced options. We will continue to offer retired languages to students who have already started learning that language. If this change has impacted your student and you need help registering, please contact Customer Support. First-time world language students must start with Level 1A, so be sure to select a language where 1A is available.
Please note:
- Many colleges require two credits of a world language. Williamsburg can only offer 2.0 credits total for languages where four to five levels are available (.5 credits awarded per level).
- Our World Language courses are not NCAA-approved.

Stories from Middle School Students
“Attending Leadership class is a transformational learning experience! Everyone gets a chance to lead something—from a breakout room to a full slideshow! Ms. Tucker makes sure we are all nice to each other too, which creates a welcoming environment!”
“When I first started the 7th grade I was really nervous to start the new school year since I didn't know anybody or what this school year was going to be like, but Mrs. Burbank made the whole class feel like a safe space to share our ideas. It really helped because I have a hard time trying to share with other people sometimes. Throughout the year I grew more confident in participating in class and more confident in myself.”
“I assumed my LA class would be boring, slow, and with lots of homework. It was all of those things except boring and slow. There is a lot of homework, but I learned that it is important, and will help me grow. The homework isn't boring, it is fun! Mrs G. taught me that I can do whatever I set my mind to, and that I matter and my education is important.”
