In Writing 7 B, delve into epic poems and mysteries!

In 7th grade writing, students develop a unique, confident, and appropriate writing voice. By engaging in writing activities daily, students advance their sentence structure, vocabulary, and organizational skills, all while nurturing a love for writing. Students complete creative writing prompts, spelling quizzes, grammar and punctuation activities, and larger genre projects that build their writing confidence. Ultimately, students who complete this Middle School Writing course are prepared to advance to thesis-driven essays in the next school year. While the skills mastered are carefully outlined in the course make-up, students naturally learn through fun, project-based writing activities that require them to apply their new knowledge. Students in this course increase their confidence in their command of the English language and their ability to articulate more sophisticated ideas in writing.

The Writing 7 self-paced course caters to writers who are comfortable writing and generally follow basic grammar rules. This course focuses on structure, grammar, style and vocabulary, and students will write across a variety of genres. Weekly video instruction and detailed writing feedback will help students identify their writing strengths and weaknesses, and prepare for higher level writing as students practice sharing more complex thoughts and gain experience using a greater variety of writing tools.

As with the Writing 6 course, students should plan to write daily (5-days a week) for 15-20 minutes each day to complete the course homework. Daily writing improves writing fluency and confidence and allows for prompt feedback helping students stay motivated and focused and to maximize learning.
