Why Take This Course?
In Government and Economics A you studied the foundational principles of the US Constitution. You read many of the authors the Founders read and used in writing the Constitution, and you studied the Constitution itself and how to use this knowledge to communicate with people of all political camps.
Government and Economics B is a blast. Based on the knowledge gained last semester you will tackle real-life scenarios involving your Constitutional Rights. You will learn what Miranda Rights are and why they are important. You will learn when a Police Officer can and can’t search your cell phone, and whether or not a school official can look in your backpack without your permission, among many other Constitutional Rights you had, but didn’t know it.
The second half of the semester you will learn about Economics. You will learn how inflation works, why no single person can make a pencil, and why millions of people thought that Communism was a genius idea (at least until they began starving). You will learn why Keynes and Hayek fought so much (and who they are) as well different perspectives of modern economics (democratic socialism, capitalism, laissez faire) and the best arguments for each.
This is a must-have course in preparation for entering the adult world where you will be responsible for knowing your Constitutional Rights and making sense of the trillions of dollars spent around you (and maybe someday spent by you).
