Algebra 1A

Why take this course?

If math is a language, then algebra is the grammar of that language. Everyone has mathematical ideas, but if you don’t know how to express a pattern as an equation or an action as a function, then you won’t be able to communicate those mathematical ideas effectively. Learn the language of math, and a whole new way of perceiving the world will open up to you. In Math 1A, we explore the concepts of equations, inequalities, and functions to learn the structure of mathematical sentences and how to “re-word” those sentences to make sense of them. We also study classic math texts to learn about the theory and concepts behind numbers in general.
