Marine Science: Secrets of the Deep Blue

Over seventy percent of the Earth is covered in water, and yet we still know surprisingly little about what goes on beneath the waves. The ocean is simultaneously one of the most beautiful and one of most terrifying locations in the world. As our understanding of the complex systems at play on our planet increases, we learn more and more about the influence of the ocean on our lives, from tides to weather to new energy sources.
This course teaches students about the essential role the ocean plays in our planet’s health and sustainability, along with the beautiful, crazy, complex, awe-inspiring, and often downright weird life that calls the sea home. In addition, students will learn about the impact humans can have on the ocean. This curriculum is great for both those who have an interest in and want to learn more about marine science as well as anyone interested in working in marine science one day.
