As Mentors are beginning their preparations for a new academic year, I have been reflecting with excitement on how soon we will be meeting new students in our classes.
The beginning of the school year is a really exciting time for us, and I hope your students are feeling the same way…though I am sure they will enjoy every single day of their remaining summer break!!
As Mentors at Williamsburg, we really value the experience students have in our classrooms, particularly in creating a “Culture of Belonging’. This is something that I was personally so impressed with when I first came to Williamsburg.
It is rare to find within such a vast cross-section of students a wonderful acceptance of each other’s differences, cultures, religions, thoughts, and ideas of how to live a great life. This is something I absolutely love and value in our students.
We’ll be introducing new initiatives into our classrooms this coming year based around increasing the level of connection among the students. I am sure this will help perpetuate the culture of belonging and increase students’ love of learning.
Finally, I am grateful for those parents who kindly emailed me last week to share their experiences, insights, and suggestions on making Williamsburg the best it can be. If you have not yet had a chance to do so, I would love to hear from you at firstname.lastname@example.org.
