February 4, 2022

The response to Williamsburg Learning’s announcement last week that we are no longer able to recreate Elevation has been heartwarming. We have received countless reports of TLEs that students have had at Elevation over the years. Here are just a few:

“At Elevation, I found a sense of belonging that I have yet to find anywhere else. During solo time, I reflected on it and talked with a mentor, and I realized that Elevation is one of the few places where being entirely authentic is possible. I felt so accepted by my pod, and I loved each pod member like family. I felt so supported that I didn’t have any of my usual hesitations over doing things outside my comfort zone, including repelling, skits, ascending, the simulation, plus way more. I think experiencing the authenticity, support, and love that I felt at Elevation will forever be one of the best times of my life, and I am so grateful that I, and so many others, have been able to experience this.”

“Trust and love are not earned; they’re given. All my efforts to earn them left me a desperate fool. Then came Elevation. My pod was full of people who only wanted to build me up, not tear me down. I am aware that many had their own aches inside. During the week, I injured my arm on the ascending. By the end of the week, the pain in my arm was gone, but more importantly, the ache in my heart had left. I had many other true friends, and they liked me because of who I was and not what I did. I love them dearly. Elevation—to me—is those true friendships I made.”

We will be forever grateful for the beautiful experience that was Elevation in its previous form, and we are excited for the new opportunities that Williamsburg is creating with the Elevation Youth Summit (more details coming soon)!

Warmly,
