One of my favorite things to do each week is read our students’ Transformational Learning Experience submissions. If you’ll recall, a TLE is an experience that fundamentally changes how a person views themself or the world. Here’s a great one I’d like to share with you:
“In math, Mrs. Garland usually gives us multiple ways to solve math problems and always offers a chance to show how we solve them. She never gives us a method and tells us that is how we solve it and that there are no other ways. Mrs. Garland is constantly encouraging us to use whatever method makes sense to us that gets us to the solution. I realized that this can be applied to other things besides math. There are so many ways to do things that you just have to choose what works and makes sense to you.” – Andrew Butler, 11th Grade Student
Executive Director, Williamsburg Academy
