Weekly Parent Email – April 18, 2022

April 15, 2022

I’d like to continue sharing more about Williamsburg Learning’s Six Mentor Practices this week by diving into detail about Project-Based Learning.

Project-Based Learning, or PBL, is about taking principles students learn in the classroom and translating them into practical action. PBL invites students to become real-world problem solvers. Students can work on projects over an extended period—from a week up to a semester—that engage them in solving real-world problems or answering complex questions. Then, they demonstrate their knowledge and skills by creating a public product or presentation for a real audience. As a result, students develop deep content knowledge and critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication skills.

One wonderful example of PBL is our middle school humanities program’s “Wave to the World” project, in which our students connect with others throughout the world. We love helping students to ignite their own intrinsic love of learning!
